Mouse Embryo Cryopreservation
Please submit a Embryo Cryopreservation request form.
If the mouse line is maintained as heterozygous, at least ten stud males between six weeks and six months old are requested. The investigator will provide female embryo donors, which will be superovulated by the CMGM. The users should pick these donors up at the CMGM and mate them with the stud males. The users will harvest oviducts/uterus and bring them to the cryo lab. The CMGM will collect E1.5 embryos from the oviducts. Up to ten embryo donors will be used in each session.
If the mouse line is maintained as homozygous, at least ten stud males between six weeks and six months old and ten females of four to six weeks old are needed. The female egg donors will be superovulated and mated with the stud males by the users. The CMGM will provide hormones, a detailed schedule and instructions for superovulation. The users will harvest oviducts/uterus and give them to the CMGM. The CMGM will collect embryos from the oviducts. Up to ten donors will be used in each session.
We recommend 200 embryos be frozen in a minimum of eight vials and stored separately in two liquid nitrogen tanks. If less than 200 embryos are harvested, we will repeat the cryopreservation once at no extra cost. If further sessions are needed, a new form must be filled out.
If cryopreserved embryos need to be thawed in the future you will need to fill out an embryo transfer request form. There is an additional yearly storage fee for each cryopreserved line that is stored on-site at the CMGM.
