Rederivation of Contaminated Mouse Lines

Please submit a completed Rederivation Request Form.

If the mouse line is maintained as heterozygous, two to four stud males between six weeks and six months old are needed. The investigator will provide donor females. CMGM will provide hormones for superovulation. The investigator will superovulate the donors and mate them with the stud males the day before rederivation. The investigator will harvest the oviduct/uterus and deliver them to the cryopreservation room.  The CMGM will harvest the embryos and transfer the embryos to pseudopregnant recipients.

If the mouse line is maintained as homozygous, two to four stud males between six weeks and six months old and four to six  females of four weeks old are needed. The female egg donors will be superovulated and mated with the stud males by the investiagtor. The CMGM will provide hormones and detail schedule and instruction for superovulation. The investigator will harvest the oviduct/uterus and the CMGM will collect embryos and transfer the embryos to pseudopregnant recipients.

The fee includes purchasing and housing recipient female mice, housing vas males, hormones for superovulation, embryo collection, embryo transfer, housing pups until three weeks old and tail biopsy. The fee covers one attempt and a second attempt if the first attempt does not result in any positive pups. If both attempts fail due to low embryo yield, the investigator may pay for additional attempts.  All housing charges in quarantine are the responsibility of the investigator.  Once the rederived mice are weaned they will be put under the investigator's protocol and coding.
